hope you will be kind enough to help this poor kid out here...
this is a common 'what-would-you-do' kinda question and you might just say 'do as you wish.' but i really need your input because i'm really ignorant about the US at the moment, more than i care to admit.
well, i'm a business major at 서강 university. i finished my sophomore year with a decent GPA (3.82/4.2) and am now working for a 병특 company for my military duty. i'll be finishing my duty in less than 2 years from now, which sets me free from the beginning of 2009.
my original plan was doing 2 semesters at any US school as an exchange student. but for some reason that i cannot tell you, i want to and NEED to move to the US (preferrably) and settle there (i.e. land a job.)
So, here's my problem. I know it's best to graduate from a US school as opposed to a korean one, and therefore would like to transfer to another school in the US...... which will make me need quite some money and sadly, neither i nor my parents seem to have enough money. even if my parents DO have the money, i don't wanna sponge off them anymore..
I'll have put together about 2500만원 by the end of my military duty, and i know it's hardly enough for attending an undergraduate school as an international student.
GIVEN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES, i came up with this.... rather unreaslistic plan....
군역이 끝난 후 편입준비와 동시에 돈을 모은다 (in the best scenario, i can save up to 5-6000만원 and, like it or not, my parents will give me some financial support in addition to that money...) -> 편입한다. -> 열심히 공부해 졸업/취직!
Well,,, here is my (long awaited) question...
1. do you think you would do this if you were me?
2. do you think it's realistic to think that i will be able to get a job in the states after graduation?
3. considering my GPA and some other things about me i mentioned above, do you think i have a good chance of entering a good and, more importantly, inexpensive school?
4. please give me your advice... any advice will be very much appreciated.
